JAJAH--MAKE FREE CALLS
JAJAH Comes To India
Monday, July 16. 2007 Today we are officially bringing our service to India and celebrating by lowering the prices for all international calls to and from India until August 15th (India Independence Day). In addition to the new low price, users can earn free minutes by referring their friends to the JAJAH service.
"Our vision is to remove the barriers to global communication," said Roman Scharf, JAJAH cofounder. "Friends and family should be able to stay in touch, regardless of where in the world they are. Bringing JAJAH to India is another step towards making this vision a reality. India is the first of several "global community" initiatives we are exploring to expand our global network. The more people that join and use the system, the lower the price can be".

"JAJAH is the new phone service for the rapidly growing global -- and mobile -- Indian community," said Venky Ganesan, a partner at venture fund Globespan, and an early investor in JAJAH. "The Indian consumer today wants to stay connected to friends, family and associates, and wants to do that in the most intelligent, affordable way. By harnessing the intelligence of the Internet, and delivering a superior-quality, low cost phone service, JAJAH is helping Indians all over the world to connect in the most sensible way."
To earn free minutes, we are simply asking people to tell 5 of their friends about the service and if their friends register for JAJAH, you earn 30 free minutes of JAJAH calls. The person who signs up the most friends, earns free calling until the end of the year. To take advantage of the program, users go to www.jajahindia.com and sign up. Registering for JAJAH takes only seconds and it's free. JAJAH needs no special equipment or binding contracts and it works from your everyday phone.
JAJAH + iPhone
Monday, July 2. 2007 The iPhone truly rocks. But with JAJAH, the iPhone truly rocks the entire world.
JAJAH is the alternative to expensive AT&T long distance / global calls.
JAJAH lets you make ultra-low cost calls directly from your iPhone to virtually any other phone in the world, without needing a Wi-fi connection. Why is this important? The iPhone is one of the most innovative and elegant products ever made. Truly revolutionary. The calling plan that comes with it, on the other hand, is not innovative or elegant. It's expensive and amazingly, it wont let you call outside the U.S. unless you purchase a special international plan from AT&T. The plan alone will costs you $3.99 U.S. a month and on top of that, a call to London (for example), will then cost you 23 cents a minute. The same call using JAJAH costs only 3 cents a minute and it costs nothing to sign up for the service. An hour call to London on AT&T = $13.80 (ouch). The same call using JAJAH costs $1.80.
How to use it:
1. Go to mobile.jajah.com on your iPhone's browser
2. If you're already a registered JAJAH user, you use it the way it always works. Just enter the number you are calling, hit call and you're done.
If you are new to JAJAH, no worries. You can sign-up right from your iPhone. The new JAJAH Interface combined with the iPhone ease of use, makes getting started easier than it's ever been:
1. Go to mobile.jajah.com. Resize the app to fit the iPhone window using your fingers , of course. (what a great feature)
2. Enter your email and your iPhone's number (this information will never be given out to anyone)
3. Touch "Register"
4. Shortly, your iPhone will signal you that you have received and SMS. It contains a temporary password. Got get it,
5. Touch the Safari icon on the bottom of your home screen. Notice that Safari is still open to your JAJAH screen. Enter your temporary password. You're done.
6. Make a trial call. Touch the blank number window on the screen. It will automatically open the iPhones keyboard. enter the number you want to call ( be sure to add the country code even for U.S. calls (+1) . (Alternatively, you can make the test call to the JAJAH number in the address book, simply by touching on it)
7. Touch "Call". Your iPhone will ring (this may surprise you, but it's how JAJAH works) answer it. At the same time, your friends phone is also ringing. You both answer and talk. JAJAH works on calls to virtually any phone in the world, landline or mobile.
8. The trial call will last a different length depending on where you are calling. After your trial call, you'll want to put money into your JAJAH account so you can continue to make low - cost global calls. Go to www.jajah.com on your computer desktop, log in using the password you just received. To change your password, buy credit or to manage your account, his is the place to do it.
Enjoy low-cost global calling with your iPhone and visit www.freeyouriphone.com!
"If you liked Skype, You'll love JAJAH"
Wednesday, June 20. 2007 Today we are rolling out our No Headset movement and website, designed to make more people aware that JAJAH is the fastest, easiest way in the world to make free and low cost global calls. Unlike Skype and other VoIP providers, JAJAH doesn't need a headset, doesn't need software downloads, doesn't need any other special equipment and works on every phone in the world, landline or mobile - making it the perfect solution for everyday people who just want to lower their phone bill.
With the No Headset movement, we are giving our users a reason to get rid of their old unused headsets. JAJAH users who take a picture or video of themselves creatively disposing of their headset then send them in. Selected videos and photos will run on JAJAH's new internet based television station JAJAH TV - www.jajahtv.com, and those selected will get über-cool JAJAH No Headset wear.
How It works:
1. Go to www.noheadset.com - check it out
2. Go find your old headset.
3. Creatively dispose of it (take a video or photo).
4. Send the video or photo to us.
5. Watch for it to show up on Jajah TV - www.jajahtv.com
Now Showing: JAJAH TV!
Wednesday, June 20. 2007 JAJAH TV - www.jajahtv.com - is like a live TV station, broadcasting live shows, live interviews and prerecorded shows. It has all the ingredients of a regular TV station. JAJAH TV features Web 2.0 news, interviews with interesting people, an inside view of JAJAH, and of course, a lot of user generated content. JAJAH TV is our latest way to interact with our 2,000,000 + users around the world.
This month it will be featuring videos of JAJAH users "creatively disposing" of their old unneeded computer headsets, as described in our No Headset movement - once you switch to JAJAH, you have no need for your geeky headset any longer.
JAJAH TV is in Beta right now so be gentle - only a limited number of viewers are able to watch the channel at the same time. If you have any trouble, the first thing you should do is check is if you are using the latest version of Flash. If for some reason you still can't see the show, you'll always be able watch the recorded segments of JAJAH TV on demand at www.youtube.com/jajahtv.
Once we get the kinks out and we get it running, we'll be adding live shows.
This project is about your participation and feedback and we would love to hear your thoughts.
Send in your videos. We'd like this to be your TV station!

T-Online Venture Fund Makes Strategic Investment in JAJAH
Tuesday, May 29. 2007 Today we are announcing that T-Online Venture Fund, the corporate venture capital entity of Deutsche Telekom, invests in JAJAH. The investment of the T-Online Venture Fund is part of a $20 million USD investment round, co-led by Intel Capital.
"The agreement is unprecedented. JAJAH is the first Voice 2.0 company to receive this level of industry validation and support. The long-term implications can’t be understated," said Roman Scharf, JAJAH co-founder.

T-Online Venture Fund, already well known for service and technology innovation investments, is expecting attractive synergies for Deutsche Telekom business units by bringing JAJAH web embedded solutions to consumer and business customers. JAJAH sees a world where all telephony becomes IP based. As this happens, new classes of services and solutions are going to emerge. In this new world, the consumer is the big winner. Our vision is to be at the forefront of innovation, creating new, richer ways for users to communicate.
"JAJAH brings together the best of the Internet with the best of telephony," said Trevor Healy, JAJAH CEO. “It is great to receive this validation from a clear leader in the telecommunications industry, whom we have always considered the key partner in offering world-class solutions to consumers. The T-Online Venture Fund investment brings JAJAH unprecedented strength, validation of our proposition, and confirmation of our leadership in voice communication solutions."
Deutsche Telekom, also known in the U.S. for its mobile arm, T-Mobile, is one of the worldwide leading telecommunication companies with over 61 Billion Euros Revenue ($80 Billion USD) in 2006.
"The communication landscape is rapidly evolving," said Andreas Kindt, Chairman of the Investment Committee of T-Online Venture Fund and Member of T-Com Management Board for IT. "By investing in companies like JAJAH, we will be able to continue to bring users around the world the innovative solutions they are looking for. The investment aligns perfectly with our strategy of 'Focus, fix and grow' while staying at the forefront of communication innovation."
JAJAH recently announced it has acquired more than 2 million users from 55 countries in their first year of business by providing innovative next-generation calling solutions, as well as ultra-low cost phone connections to the most called places on Earth. Unlike traditional VoIP solutions, JAJAH uses regular phones and does not require software or special equipment. A user simply initiates the call from www.jajah.com and JAJAH connects the call to either landline or mobile phones, for a fraction traditional cost. Additionally, users can make the same calls from many mobile phones and from webenabled smart phones.
"JAJAH brings VoIP-like advantages to regular phones," said Daniel Mattes, JAJAH cofounder, "Unlike other solutions, JAJAH integrates with the existing telephony infrastructure. It’s one of the reasons our call quality is so high. Partnering with such strong and committed investors like T-Online Venture Fund will allow us to continue to provide our users unsurpassed quality and value, and allow us to maintain our rapid rate of innovation."
"JAJAH is making strides not just by innovating, but also by collaborating with major industry leaders that can dramatically expand JAJAH's market reach," said Will Stofega, analyst at IDC. "It’s a smart move, and JAJAH is executing very well."
Wing Takes Flight
Wednesday, May 23. 2007
The Wing operates on GSM based wireless infrastructure and like the iPhone, gives users high speed data access via Wi-Fi. Mobile operators have been somewhat reluctant to enable the phones they sell with Wi-Fi because of the concern they will lose voice revenue to VoIP companies. With the release of the Wing, T-Mobile is demonstrating they understand that customers are going expect high speed data services and it's better to be in front of that parade than behind it.
Shown here is a protoype of Jajah running on on the Wing. As we announced with the Apple iPhone and the LG Prada phone, Jajah allows any smartphone with a browser to directly make free or low cost global long distance calls, with just a single click, without needing to install any client. You simply set up a Jajah account and go to mobile.jajah.com on your phones' browser and you're free to call the world.
Enjoy JAJAH's low-cost global calling right from your cell phone and get rid of roaming charges while travelling.

Intel Invests in the "Future of Communication"
Wednesday, May 9. 2007 Today we are announcing that Intel has become the lead investor in our $20 million Series C investment round. The implications can't be overstated. For those of you who have been following the JAJAH blog over this last year, you understand the level of milestone this represents.
Background Of The Intel Investment
This is a strategic investment - meaning that while the investment is important, it's not the only reason we wanted to strike a deal. Along with the capital comes other key advantages.
Capital - The money will allow us to grow the business. We'll invest in everything from marketing to R and D.
Marketing Agreements - Jajah now has access to Intel developers and OEMs, which will help us get JAJAH to more people faster.
Patents - With the agreement, JAJAH now has access to some important Intel patents in the telephony and computing space. These will allow us the freedom to continue to explore, innovate and create great new products.
The JAJAH Vision
JAJAH sees a world where all telephony becomes IP based. As this happens, new classes of services and solutions are going to emerge. In this new world, the consumer is the big winner. Our vision is to be at the forefront of innovation, creating new, richer ways for users to communicate.
"Our vision is to lead the way into the next generation of communication," said Daniel Mattes, JAJAH co-founder and chief architect. "All voice communication will soon be IP-based. The lines between computers and phones are gradually being removed. Phones are quickly turning into computers and computers are quickly turning into phones. We need to marry phones and computers in a fundamental way!"
Naturally. the more JAJAH can be integrated into next generation devices, the better. As stated by our co-founder, Roman Scharf:
"The deeper JAJAH can be embedded into Intel solutions, the better for customers everywhere. It is our intention to bring a best-of-class, next generation solution to the market which can be embedded and optimized for any computing device."
In the end, JAJAH's vision remains the same. It is our goal to remove the barriers to global communication and the Intel agreement will allow us to do that faster and better than ever before.

Call Free From PlayStation 3
Friday, May 4. 2007 Several weeks ago, we showed the world it was possible to make a regular JAJAH call directly from a Sony PSP. It got so much attention that we went to work on optimizing the experience and on bringing the solution to other consoles. Today we bring you a new version of JAJAH, designed to shine brightly on one of the most popular game consoles of our time, the Sony Playstation 3.
This is how it works: Users with internet access, enter play.jajah.com on their PS3 Internet browser. They will then see a new Jajah interface, where they enter their own phone number as well as the phone number of the person they are calling. By clicking the "Call" button, JAJAH initiates the call. In seconds, your phone will ring. At the same time, your friend's phone will ring. You both answer and you talk.
JAJAH for gamers works very much like the original JAJAH Web - our web-based solution - but it has been specifically designed for the game consoles. Existing JAJAH users who go to play.jajah.com, will see their JAJAH address book, their account information and a new game -friendly design and UI.
JAJAH now brings free or cheap calling into the living room and away from computers. Initiating a call with JAJAH can now be done while lounging in front of the TV with no need to fire up the computer. This means that the whole family, regardless of interests or technological skills, can make cheap or even free calls using their normal home phone.
says JAJAH co-founder, Roman Scharf.
Most importantly: It looks gooood!

Bloggers "Talk-Now" About JAJAH, iotum Announcement
Wednesday, May 2. 2007 It's time again to make a little drift around the blogosphere checking out what bloggers have to say about the JAJAH services and our recent iotum integration.
But first of all I'm happy to announce that our integration into the iotum presence engine is taking off nicely and available for all Blackberry users at www.iotum.com/blackberry.
So here's a little selection. Enjoy.
A "peanut-butter-and-chocolate" mashup Paul Kapustka at GigaOM
"This is one of those natural alliances that make you nod your head at the 'right-ness' of the connection." Marc Orchant at ZDNet
"Iotum’s Talk-Now provides a unique presence application today. It allows users to deliver personalized presence to each of their contacts. By combining Talk-Now and JAJAH, the two companies have created the world’s premier presence-driven calling network." Will Stofega, IDC Research Manager at DailyWireless

iotum + JAJAH + Work Group Productivity
Wednesday, April 25. 2007 Today, we are making public that we have formed an alliance with iotum, the leader in the hot new category called "presence". Most of us know how cool presence is because we use it when we IM. It's what gives us the ability to see who is available to chat at any given time.
The iotum "Talk-Now" application, brings presence capabilities to the Blackberry. Combined with JAJAH, Blackberry users are now able to see who is available to talk before you make a call, and since Jajah is integrated into the iotum application, the call can now be a Jajah call, meaning it will be ultra-low cost, virtually anywhere in the world.
For JAJAH, this brings added value and functionality to our Enterprise Mobile customers. Companies have been coming to JAJAH and asking us to help them lower their telephone bills - some of which are in the millions of dollars. Now with the iotum / JAJAH solution, workgroups using Blackberry's save two important ways. First, they can tell who is available to talk just by looking at their BlackBerry screen, thus eliminating phone tag - and second their calls will only cost pennies a minute.
In the words of IDC Research Manager, Will Stofega:
"Iotum's Talk-Now provides a unique presence application today. It allows users to deliver personalized presence to each of their contacts. By combining Talk-Now and JAJAH, the two companies have created the world's premier presence-driven calling network."
Look for other announcements from the iotum / JAJAH alliance later in the year. Both companies are focused on bringing people everywhere, new and better ways to stay in touch - working together, we're expecting some great things.

Jajah - Internet Phoning on the Cheap
Wednesday, April 11. 2007 Mainstream news is catching on to Jajah. In a week we've been in USA Weekend, ABC Television and now US News & World Report. This supports what we've been saying all along - JAJAH is not (only) for geeks, it's for everybody who just wants to save money on telephone calls in an easy and simple way.
Here is a taste of David LaGesse of US News & World Report from yesterday, were he gives JAJAH great marks:
"You've heard that making phone calls over the Internet is cheap and easy. Now, for those of you who haven't tried it, no more excuses: Try Jajah. This is one of the smoothest, simplest, and cheapest ways to make Internet calls."

"Unlike Skype, it doesn't require downloaded software. And unlike Vonage, it doesn't require a piece of extra hardware and a monthly charge to work with a standard telephone. You don't even need a broadband connection. Jajah uses a truly clever approach. You type the number you want to call into your Web browser, and then Jajah calls you on your land line or cellphone. After you pick up, Jajah then calls the party you are trying to reach. No mess, no fuss. It's simple and it works, with sound quality that rivals or exceeds what you get with the phone company."
Thanks a lot David for this great article!

"I'm sure you've heard of making phone calls using the Internet. Well, the technology has gotten better." says Daphne Munro from ABC Smart Shopper

Thanks Daphne. We couldn't have said it better.

PSP (PlayStation Portable) gamers around the globe: Call with JAJAH!
Thursday, April 5. 2007 A fresh new discovery - JAJAH's free, or next to free international phone calls are now also available on PSP (PlayStation Portable). You no longer need a computer or smartphone to save big bucks on calls with JAJAH.
Nearly 25 million PSP systems have shipped globally, so millions can take part in free or low-cost calls by using the Internet browser functionality and visiting mobile.jajah.com to make a JAJAH call. And since the price of PSP was reduced to $169.99 on its second anniversary earlier this week, this might be the last bit of motivation you need to go and get one. Gamers can now enjoy the capability of making JAJAH calls in addition to PSP's core features - games, music, video, photo, Internet, live and recorded TV, wireless connectivity.
How does it work?
And as always, we made it really simple. First make sure you're a registered user on www.jajah.com. Registration is fast, free and easy.
Then on your PSP, access the web with a WiFi connection. Open the browser and type in mobile.jajah.com in the address bar. It will prompt you to log in and your personal JAJAH web page will launch. Your saved address book contacts will appear as links, which when clicked, initiate the call. Or enter in a new number to place a call. With JAJAH on PSP, you can connect your phone (landline or mobile) to any other phone in the world for free or at extremely low cost!
And stay tuned: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii are being tested for JAJAH compatibility as we speak.

JAJAH connects job seekers and employers
Thursday, April 5. 2007 Yes, another integration to announce. JAJAH call functionality is now available for everyone seeking or offering jobs. It's WAZZA.COM that chose our smart click to call solution, which can be easily integrated in every website. Wazza clients can get in touch by simply clicking the 'Call Me' button. Alternatively, they can send an SMS.
"By advertising the job seeker instead of the job we would streamline the whole process. No longer would employers waste time sorting through and responding to what many times would be dozens of applicants and no longer would job seekers waste time applying for jobs that are overcrowded with applicants or worse no longer available. 'It is our short term goal to roll this system out through the Asia Pacific Region and we look forward to working closely with JAJAH during this expansion,' explains Adam Remar, CEO of Australia based WAZZA.COM"
Companies integrate the JAJAH one-click call services on their website and realize dramatic savings in telephone costs while also improving the customer experience. JAJAH web-activated call buttons are customizable by the company and directly connect seekers and employers. This is the first time JAJAH is implemented in a job service. Undoubtedly, this will make it a lot easier for both the applicants as well as employers offering positions to get in touch.
